An Experiment

I'm starting an intriguing experiment: I'm going to attempt to create a web comic. My main challenge will be that my art style isn't suited for the volume of content needed for web comics. So, before diving in too deep, I'll test whether I can produce content that satisfies me but is much simpler than my current work. However, if I can push through, this could be a learning opportunity for me as well. There are many basics I don't bother learning since I don't need to work quickly or produce a lot of content. Anyway, let's see how it goes.

I'm also planning to attempt these line drawings on my Android tablet (Wacom MovinkPad) instead of my full-sized Wacom Cintiq. This way, I could work on it during lunch at work or while traveling, while reserving my home time with the larger Wacom tablet for my more traditional illustrations.

Current Progress

So far, I've developed a very simple story divided into three "chapters," each containing 6 to 8 scenes. I've storyboarded the first chapter and broken the first 6 scenes into panels, creating thumbnails to determine the story's pacing, how to convey it through images, and where text is necessary. I've chosen one scene (the second in the first chapter) and refined it to know exactly what I want. This scene consists of 10 panels (ten images) that I'll need to draw.

If I continue and maintain a consistent number of panels per scene, I'll need to complete roughly 200 images for all three chapters. For what it's worth, my line drawings take 1-4 hours before I begin rendering, but I don't currently do the level of line cleanup that will be needed here.
