Early Years
Now and Then
I drew as a teenager, and then only occasionally over the next ~25 years. These are a few of the sketches that I still have, before I returned to art in earnest in 2019.
2019
Starting Over
I returned to art in earnest this year, learning Photoshop and Wacom tablet as I got comfortable holding a pen in my hand again. By the end of the year, I was finding my stride.
2020
Telling Stories
Instead of just portraits, I started painting more moments from our games: characters exploring, getting into trouble, and sharing adventure. I was experimenting with movement and lighting and their role in telling the story.
2021-2022
Illustrating Worlds
I started paying more attention to the environments around my characters and how those places helped tell their stories. I was drawn to how the landscape could impact moments of affection, uncertainty, and stepping into somewhere new.
2023
Creating Atmosphere
I began to explore how light and color could shape the feeling of an illustration... from an open road through the woods to a quiet moment between characters.
2024
Exploring
I continued painting familiar characters while trying different compositions: open landscapes, and silhouettes against colorful skies. It was a year of exploring what else I could do with the things I'd been learning.
2025
A Bigger Story
With the "Something About You" illustrations, I set out to focus a series of images around one story within a much larger world of stories. Each of the paintings was related. I was going for something larger than a single painting good offer.
2026 So Far
The Story Continues
I'm continuing to explore stories through art. The larger project of my illustration series "Something About You" led to a logical conclusion. I began work on a web comic project called "The Long Forever." In this new adventure I am trying to learn how to find the story and deliver impact but with less focus on rendering minute details. Alongside character paintings and quieter moments, I've been creating lanscapes and illustrations for this website that brings it all together.
